I've used a variety of softphone based headsets including the Plantronics C55 and the Jabra units, the C55 is by far my favorite until this unit. I purchased the optional charging base where you can charge an extra battery. The design is sleek and lightweight. The call quality is phenomenal.

I can remember the first generation Savi product that I used, it was a strange little device that had some crappy software and apparently it was a combination phone and softphone unit. I used the unit for approximately a day and returned it back to Amazon as it was horrible.. The Savi 440 is a completely different animal with ease-of-use, exceptional sound and voice quality with lightweight comfort ..

If I were to say there was a down side, it would be that large USB dongle. If you use a laptop you have to be very careful not to hit the dongle.

I switch back and forth between my desktop and my laptop on a daily basis with this headset. I use the unit with Skype and Lync.
They do not package any software with the unit, you have to go to the Plantronics website to download their software and integration applications. It's quick and easy and well worth it since it has a battery indicator that will stay in your toolbar. I know that the software had a fair amount of products that it was compatible with.. Skype, Lync, Shortell, iTunes, Avaya, Cisco IP communicator.. And a host of other IP phones.

They give you an incredible amount of options for wearing the unit. I prefer over the head headband, the other options look interesting, I haven't tried them just because I already used to the over the head headband.

If you're thinking of a computer-based headset for use with a softphone or for products such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking. There is no better choice than the Savi 440 .. Be sure to consider the optional holder that can store an extra battery.. I think it's pretty cheap for 48 bucks and well worth the cost .. As far as I can see Plantronics is done it again.... PS if you shop around on the web you can find this unit for approximately 179.00 (as of this posting November 2011) like everything I'm sure the price will go down.
