I love that everything on this system is non-proprietary and name brand. Cooler Master case, Gigabyte motherboard, Kingston RAM, XFX Radeon 7770 video card. I passed on it's competitors (iBUYPOWER and Cyberpower) because of reports of stability issues. I have seen no real stability issues on this system.

The keyboard feels flimsy and cheap, and you will probably want to replace it, but if they had to skimp on something, I'd rather it was this than any of the stuff listed above. The mouse is equally forgettable (I already have the best gaming mouse ever made though, the Logitech G5).

The case is roomy and cool, and everything runs quiet. I am not thrilled about the look of it, but it isn't awful and I'm not buying it as a showpiece. It has a 500w power supply which is plenty for this system, but you will probably need to upgrade it if you get a better video card.

The motherboard includes a PCIe x16 slot, and second PCIe slot, and one regular PCI slot. There are only two RAM slots and the 8 gigs RAM, while roomy, is maxed out (it doesn't support over 8 gigs total). The AMD FX 6100 is not the best gaming CPU, but it is still plenty fast, comparable to an i5 in most ways. The integrated graphics card is a Radeon 3000 and was more than sufficient to provide a super smooth and fluid Windows 8 experience, and will probably play some older games decently by itself.

The Radeon 7770 (XFX Cored Edition I believe), while not top of the line, is still a very nice card and will run the newest games at high frame rates and high resolutions. I will update this section once I have had time to test some more games. The XFX card covers the other PCIe slot (it uses a second module for additional cooling), so crossfire is probably not possible unless you replace it. I did need to re-install the latest Catalyst drivers and then also re-install DirectX 11 to get Mechwarrior Online to run. It is advertised as being crossfire-capable though.

Windows 8 is not as bad as people think it is. I was heavily biased against this until recently. It is actually much easier and faster to use than all previous versions, but it does have a steeper learning curve. I encountered no compatibility issues with any programs I have installed so far...even older ones. Just remember it is not like Metro on Windows phones and tablets, even though it looks the same...you still have right-click capability on almost everything.

I could not find any systems as of this writing that were better than this one priced at $700 or less. It isn't flashy, but it does the job very well.
