HP Color LaserJet 5550DN Printer Review

We have been using this at our office as a netwrok printer for a year and a half. Mostly for documents, charts and company resumes.

Pros:
-The color laser printout of images is very good even on a regular copy paper. You get better results using bright white photo paper. We have not to try it on a glossy paper yet but it can. But just don't compare it with an inkjet yet.
-Printing color images even for a full page is amazingly fast. Approximately mere 5 seconds per full color page.
-Compare to an inkjet, laser printers are much economical on ink. Inkjets are notorious for selling you the unit almost at a giveaway price and then selling a full set of replacement ink for the same price as the printer itself.
-Multiplatform. Windows and Mac
-Duplex printing.
-It can print up to 11 x 17 paper.
-The warm up time, around 15 secs is decent
-The spec claims a duty cycle of 120,000 pages per month. We are printing around 5000 pages a month.

Rooms for improvement:
- Speed can be improve on the black and white printouts.
- Can be made smaller. 28W x 25H x 23D is a huge footprint .
- Price can go lower.

Acer Iconia W510-1837 10.1-inch 64GB Tablet with Keyboard Dock (Silver) Review

I love this tablet! It comes with a detachable keyboard. The keys on the keyboard are full size and work well. The tablet boots quickly, has a sharp display and "clean" look. I teach at a community college and use this tablet for everything: to post to my online classes, create course content, post grades, etc. It will do everything a full size notebook computer will do.

The only thing I have not solved is how to upload my iTunes library (I know - this is a Apple/Microsoft thing). It seems as if there is a go around to do this ... it is not a priority for me.

I ordered the case for ~$15 and it works well with and without the keyboard. The keyboard has a full size USB port on which I use a multiport hub to connect a mouse and a flash drive. The computer accommodates up to a 64gb mini sd card. There is a mini USB port on the side of the tablet that works well. I downloaded a free add-on and can play my movies on a portable DVD player.

I have the University Microsoft Office 2010 suite loaded and it works well. In addition, I have all my books and a few of my favorite games loaded. The tablet is thin and very light. It is very functional and convenient. I own an iPad - but it does not "hold a candle" to this little gem!
