MSI Computer Corp. DDR3 1600 Intel LGA 1155 Motherboards (Z77A-GD55) Review

So after a month of using this Mobo, it's giving me nothing but troubles. I installed it with an Intel i5-3570k (stock only, no OC), 16GB of Corsair Dominator GT 2133mhz, and a Diamond brand AMD HD5870. After several bios updates and "Live Update" updates, it keeps crashing.

Not so much "crashing" as completely freezing. I mean everything. USB turns off, mouse and keyboard don't respond. Screen freezes (still showing whatever was there). Audio cuts off.

I'm going to have to RMA this board, because it is now 41 days since I bought it. This is a HUGE disappointment.

UPDATE: I decided to not RMA the board originally, since some of the issues pointed to a possibly bad Graphics Card. So I installed a new MSI GTX 660ti OC, a new 240GB Kingston Hyper X SSD and unfortunately Windows 8 Pro. (By the way, never upgrade to Windows 8, just my opinion).

The problems stated previously became much much worse over the couple of weeks. So I finally broke down and RMA'd the board. I will update again when I get it back.

So here's the Update:

As I stated, it uses the new MSI GTX 660ti with the Kingston SSD.

This second board is bad as well. The USB controller randomly freezes and forces a hard reset. It also won't allow the USB to come online in time to make it to the bios (by pushing Del on the keyboard). I'm not going to RMA this one. I'm going to buy a new mobo, from a different manufacturer when I can afford it. I'm done with MSI for mobos.

On a side note: The MSI GTX 660ti (oc) is doing quite well.

3rd and final update: (9/26/13)
I've had to RMA the second board for freezing, lockups and hanging. I'm done with it. I bought an ASRock Extreme 4 board to replace it with and will just sell off the returned (3rd) MSI board when it gets to me.

I will never purchase another MSI mainboard.
