Qnap Intel Atom D2700 2.13GHz/1GB RAM/2GbE/6SATA3/2eSATA/USB3.0/6-Bay Tower Turbo NAS Server for SMBs (TS-669-PRO-US) Review

I have been using the unit for about a week. I upgraded the ram to 3gb work fine attached link to the ram on review. The performance is top rate as it has a slightly faster atom processor then the ts-659. It is pretty remarkable the features that pack into this unit.

It support link aggregation so I also purchases a Cisco 300 switch to improve the performance past 1gbps easily.
The rest of the review will focus on the features which are on all QNAP product lines.
I was slightly disappointed with the USB 3.0 and esata functionality. I wrongly assumed that would could plug the unit in as a direct attached storage for high throughput but that is not the case. It seems like external storage is for copying file to and from the unit.

I am not sure if this is the ext4 file system but my other NAS seemed to get more usable space out the same storage. For example 5x 1.5tb drive in a raid 6 on ext4 only netted me about 4.1TB of available space. 4x 1.5 TB drives running raid 5 on XFS netted around 4.5tb . Therefore, I am not sure if that is the raid version, or hardware vs software raid, or file system.

If the system proves to be reliable in the end I plan on purchasing several more for the business and remote replication. The unit seems very feature rich for the price point and thus for the performance has not disappointed.
