OWC 120GB Mercury Electra 6G SSD 2.5" Serial-ATA 9.5mm Solid State Drive Review

So I received this for christmas and finally put it in my iMac last night and am Absolutely blown away at it's performance. Here are a few point I feel are worth noting:

1. The product is made in America and that makes me feel good. To know that some where in this country some one still has a job because they are producing products like this.

2. I installed this into an iMac 9,1 2.66GHz Intel based machines with a 24" screen. If you haven't taken into account the drive size you should. The original drive the iMac comes with is a 3.5" while the OWC is 2.5". You will need to purchase an adaptor to ensure the drive is just dangling freely inside your machine, iMac or PC.

3. Performance wise I am still astounded. I restarted my iMac, got up to close my closet door and came back to find the log in screen. It is THAT fast. Opening iTunes and even more resource intense software like Photoshop or Adobe Dreamweaver is light years faster. Not instant, but darn close to it.

4.Will I recommend OWC drives to people? Absolutely. The price plus the increase in performance warrants this a must have for anyone who will wants to boost your machine without having to get a whole new computer.

My only regret is not doing this sooner. Keep Americans employed and your machine running fast. Just buy one. Tell them Steve Sent you. They won't know what your talking about.

Samsung SE-506AB/TSBD 6X USB2.0 External Slim Blu-ray Writer Drive (Black) Review

I ordered and got the samsung blu-ray player and i tested it and it works well with my i5 Mac mini running Mac OS X 10.8.2. I only needed to play in one usb plug.

The drive door problem- you got to close the door and hold it a several seconds for the drive to register that the door is closed.

and NO! You DON'T need to buy Macgo Blu-ray Player for $39. JUST USE VLC PLAYER 2.04 and download 2 files to get your VLC 2.0 to play encrypted blu-ray discs.

You'll need two files: keys database and AACS dynamic library.

you get these 2 files from:
[...]

and followed their instructions on the site where to place the 2 files and blu-ray will work.

Thank you to the Mac developers of the VLC project, their website:

[...]

I am now watching The Avengers on Blu-Ray on my intel Mac.

VLC Player 2.04 is opensource freeware and you can donate to the project if you like.

here's how you play blu-ray discs on vlc:
1. launch VLC
2. Click File on Menu and select open Disc
3. click open BDMV folder and select the directory in the blu-ray with the BDMV file
4. click open
5. blu-ray movie should be playing at this point.
6. press cmd f for full screen
7. enjoy!

i researched several brands and the 15in Asus too, and after a failed attempt to get a 15in
went with the 17in
this laptop fit all of my needs, large enough to do any task but portable if needed. Awesome audio from the top notch Bang Olufsen speakers, and the small plug in woofer is nothing fancy but a nice touch.

its loaded with too many Asus apps and worthless programs, but what brand isn't.

the graphics are really beyond expecations for a laptop, and now i'm glad i went with 17in screen!

very satisfied with this, would definitely recommend it.
and Computer King did a really nice job with the upgrades, better graphics card an double the ram.

Samsung Electronics B300 Series S24B300EL 23.6-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor Review

Very energy efficient 24" LED monitor. Samsung also has nice tuning software, especially Natural Color Pro for gamma adjustment. Also has angle viewing adjustments that are convenient. The monitor menu touch controls take some getting used to, but are not intrusive and are intuitive. Has lots of adjustments...and once adjusted for your particular PC, will produce glorious color. Plenty bright...I have the brightness turned down to 15% based on a DVD SMPTE adjustment tool. It's too bad that there's no height adjustment (only tilt) but that features costs $50+ these days.
